Time Counter & Bar Size

Time Counter & Bar Size is a lightweight time counter indicator for NinjaTrader 8 built for traders on second, minute, daily, weekly, and monthly charts who care about bar timing, bar development, and execution quality on the active bar. It shows a live clock for the current bar together with the current bar’s range directly beside price, so you can judge timing and risk without shifting your focus away from the chart.

It is the time-based counterpart to Tick Counter & Bar Size — the same at-a-glance timing and risk read, built for charts measured in time instead of ticks.

Currency Mode: See Bar Risk in Dollars, Not Just Ticks

Unlike Tick Counter & Bar Size, which only expresses bar size in ticks or points, Time Counter & Bar Size adds a third option: currency. The current bar’s range is converted using the instrument’s point value and displayed as a live dollar figure right beside price.

In the screenshot above, the bar shows 00:15 remaining with a range of $3.75 — a live read of both timing and dollar risk on the current bar, with no mental math or trip to the Data Box required.

Color-Coded Warning States

Text color shifts through warning states as the current bar approaches close, so urgency can be read at a glance instead of watching numbers count down. This is driven by how much of the bar’s total time remains, regardless of which time mode is displayed.

• Default open-state color while more time remains than the yellow threshold
• Yellow once remaining time drops to the yellow threshold
• Red once remaining time drops to the red threshold
• Both thresholds are configurable percentages
