1. Install and Add to a Chart
- In NinjaTrader, go to
Tools > Import > NinjaScript Add-On. - Select the PAT Trade Manager ZIP package.
- Complete the import and allow NinjaTrader to compile if prompted.
- Restart NinjaTrader if required.
- Right-click a chart, choose
Indicators, and selectPAT Trade ManagerunderPriceActionTools. - Make sure Chart Trader is visible on that chart — PAT Trade Manager uses it to resolve which account’s position and orders to track.
No license or activation step is required — the indicator works as soon as it’s added to a chart with Chart Trader visible.

2. How It Works
PAT Trade Manager watches whatever position and bracket orders are open on the Chart Trader account, and paints a small readout beside every working Stop or Target. Nothing about your orders themselves changes — it can’t place one, move one, or cancel one, and it leaves NT8’s own order-line drawing completely alone.
Badge Numbering
Everything working against the current position — your Stops on one side, your Targets on the other — gets sorted by how far it sits from your entry, nearest first, then labeled accordingly: the closest target is T1, the next one out is T2, and stops follow the same pattern as S1, S2, and so on. If more than one order shares a price and type, PAT Trade Manager folds them into a single row and adds their quantities together, the same way NT8 itself handles stacked orders at one level.
Live Only
Like the community OrderLineDecoratorExtended indicator it draws inspiration from, this only paints anything while you’re live and Chart Trader is open — that’s the only way it can tell which account’s orders belong to you. Scroll back into history, or close Chart Trader, and the chips simply disappear.
3. Reading the Chip
Each chip reads left to right:
- Badge —
T1,T2,S1,S2, etc., colored fill with white text - Points/ticks — the distance from your entry to that order’s price, muted and secondary
- Dollar value — that distance × quantity × the instrument’s point value (or your override), bold and color-coded by side
Since NT8 gives no API to query its native order tag’s exact on-screen position, PAT Trade Manager approximates the anchor point from Chart Trader’s Order Display Bar Length setting plus a sample-label-width measurement, right-anchored so the chip’s edge sits flush against NT8’s own tag. A short, thin trailing line in the same color connects the chip toward NT8’s native line, so it blends in rather than competing with it.

4. Settings
Theme—Dark,Light,SlateDark,Sepia, orCleanGray.SlateDark,Sepia, andCleanGrayshare their exact colors with NT Risk Manager and Advanced Second Entry, so the chip reads as part of the same tool family whichever theme you match your chart to.Font Size—NormalorLarge. Large scales up the whole chip — text, padding, badge, corner radii — together, not just the text.Units— display distance from entry asPoints,Ticks, orBothat once.Point Value Override ($)— swaps in a different per-point dollar figure than the instrument’s own default, which matters most for synthetic or cross-instrument charts. Leave at0to just use whatever NinjaTrader already has configured.Decorator : Order Gap— a manual pixel nudge so the chip sits flush against NT8’s native order tag. Tune this per chart skin/DPI if you see a visible gap or overlap.

5. Compatibility
- NinjaTrader 8
- Requires Chart Trader to be visible on the chart
- Live trading and Replay — renders in realtime only, not on historical bars
- Any instrument with a live position and working Stop/Target orders attached
6. Common Fixes
No Chips Are Showing
- confirm Chart Trader is visible on the chart
- confirm the account selected in Chart Trader actually has an open position with working Stop or Target orders on this instrument
- confirm you’re not scrolled into historical bars — chips only render in realtime
The Chip Doesn’t Line Up With NT8’s Native Tag
- adjust
Decorator : Order Gapuntil the chip sits flush against the native tag - re-check after changing chart font size, DPI scaling, or NT8 skin, since any of those can shift the native tag’s position
Dollar Values Look Wrong
- check
Point Value Override ($)— leave it at0unless you specifically need to override the instrument’s own point value - confirm the instrument’s point value is set correctly in NinjaTrader itself
7. FAQ
Does This Place, Move, or Cancel Orders?
No. PAT Trade Manager is a read-only chart overlay — it only draws information beside orders you’ve already placed through Chart Trader or your own workflow.
Do I Need a License?
No. PAT Trade Manager doesn’t require license activation.
Why Isn’t Anything Showing on a Historical Chart?
It only has something to show while Chart Trader is open and you’re on a live or Replay session — that’s the only way it can tell which account’s position it should be reading.
Can I Use This With Multiple Targets?
Yes — each target is numbered automatically (T1, T2, …) by distance from entry, and the same numbering applies to multiple stops.
What Other Tools Does This Pair Well With?
It looks and feels at home next to Next Bar Entry, since both share the same visual language. If you’d rather have your per-trade loss and contract limits enforced rather than just displayed, look at PAT Risk Manager; for help spotting the setup in the first place, before a bracket even exists, Advanced Second Entry is the natural companion.
